Our Mission
Riichi Victoria a.k.a. the Victorian Riichi Mahjong Association, established officially in 2024, is a Melbourne based riichi mahjong club that welcomes players of all skill levels. Our purpose is to promote the enjoyment of riichi mahjong for our members, and build a fun, fair, and inclusive community across the whole state.
Our constitution and association rules can be found here.
We are also governed by the model rules for an incorporated association provided by Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Code of Conduct and Social Contract
This policy is a living document, and subject to refinement and expansion in the future. Last updated July 26, 2024.
VRMA is dedicated to creating a safe environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, age, disability (physical or mental), sexual orientation, and gender identity, as well as gender expression, mental illness, socioeconomic status or background, neuro(a)typicality, or physical appearance.
As such we have created this code of conduct to further solidify the values of VRMA and continue to uphold the standards of our exceptional community members. We believe that these guidelines will reinforce the respect between both VRMA and the community and the varying community members themselves. In addition it will provide an ultimate reference for all of us, ensuring that our vision will remain pure. VRMA will enforce and update this code as the team and community grows.
By entering our community spaces you agree to adhere to these guidelines.
No Tolerance
There are certain cultures and groups whose values and opinions do not align with ours, or our vision for the VRMA community, and thus are not entitled to our spaces or audience. Anyone supporting, defending, or promoting fascism, Nazis, alt-right, antifeminism, religious fundamentalists, or the ideals or conspiracy theories of these hate groups is not welcome. Additionally, the degradation or othering of marginalized groups who are already subject to systemic violence and oppression is not welcome here.
Mods and admins have ultimate discretion over what they do and do not consider a breach of conduct.
Code of Conduct
Be kind. Don't harass others, even as a joke, and don't insult other members of the community. Stick up for each other.
Be supportive. Many people enter our community spaces to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn. Ensure you are not being patronizing or disrespectful when talking to people.
Be respectful. Try to be aware of how much room you're taking up and give others a chance to say something before you continue. Use people’s preferred pronouns. Do not deliberately misgender others or use deadnames. Be proactive in asking how others prefer to be identified if you are unsure, and accept their identity when informed.
Don't start fires. Antagonizing other members of the server, speaking poorly of VRMA members, or attempting to provoke heated arguments is not permissible. If you have an issue with someone, report it to the mods.
